Edith Susan Soderholm, 88, of Fort Frances, Ont., passed away Monday, Oct. 17, 2005 at La Verendrye General Hospital in Fort Frances.
Edith was born April 17, 1917 in Hillsburg Municipality, Man. to the late William and Margaret Lockman. She enjoyed knitting, sewing, baking, and fishing, and was a great cook.
She also loved camping, and had travelled from coast to coast with her husband, Arvie. The teapot also was always on for anyone who wanted to visit and have a cookie and a cup of tea.
She was a past member of the Lutheran Church Women and a past member of the La Verendrye Hospital Auxiliary. Most of all, she was a good mother and enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
She was united in marriage on April 22, 1947 to Arvie Soderholm, who survives along with their three children, Loretta (Lawrence) Allan of Fort Frances, Ont., Alvin (Margo) Haner of Winnipeg, Man., and Elaine (Albert) Kast of Sioux Narrows, Ont.
Also surviving are grandchildren, Darryl (Marie) Allan of Fort Frances, Ont., Cheryl (Gord) McLellan of Florida, Lisa (Randy) Morden of Atikokan, Ont., Susan Allan of Fort Frances, Ont., Scott Kast of Sioux Narrows, Ont., Kathy (Murray) Stardom of Winnipeg, Man., Kevin Kast of Sioux Narrows, Ont., Wayne (Shelley) Haner of Winnipeg, Man., and Nancy (Joe) Lance of St. Catharines, Ont.; and seven great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are three brothers, Kenneth (Agnes) Lockman of Emo, Ont., Norman (Mildred) Lockman of Oxdrift, Ont., and Allen (Carmen) Lockman of Atikokan, Ont.; special niece and helper, Eleanor Barron; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents, William and Margaret; and three brothers, Wilfred, Don, and Herb Lockman.
A celebration of Edith’s life will be held Thursday, Oct. 20, 2005 at 2 p.m. at the Zion Lutheran Church in Fort Frances. Pastor Brian Keffer will officiate, followed by interment in Riverview Cemetery in Fort Frances.
The honourary pallbearers will be all of Edith’s family and friends.
