EDITH PHOEBE PATTISON

It is with great sadness that the family of Edith Pattison, 89, announces her passing on Tuesday, July 17, 2012 in Fort Frances, Ont.
Edith was born May 29, 1923 in Emo, Ont. to David and Elizabeth Woodgate.
She was united in marriage to the love of her life, Allan, on Aug. 30, 1943 and together they spent the next 66 years devoted to raising their family.
Although Edith never held an official job, she made it her life’s work to create the kind of home and family where everyone felt welcomed and loved. She was a kind woman and made friends easily; she was the type of person that would do anything for anyone.
She also was an avid outdoorswoman. Whether it was time spent working on the farm alongside her husband and four children, relaxing at the cabin with family and friends, fishing, hunting, or just watching the birds, Edith loved it all.
Some of her fondest memories were of children, especially the countless hours she spent playing with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, where the kitchen was always open, the cards were ready to go, and the peppermints were free flowing.
She was the heart of the family and will be sorely missed by everyone.
Edith was predeceased by her husband, Allan; parents, Elizabeth and David Woodgate; brother, David Woodgate (Lauretta); brothers-in-law, Walter Oldford, Levi Pattison (Margaret) (Shirley), Albert Pattison (Elizabeth), Colin Pattison, and Arnold Pattison (Helen); sister-in-law, Laura Lennox (Everett); son-in-law, Raymond Buchanan; and great-grandson, Daniel Lalonde.
Edith will be sadly missed by her sisters, Grace Oldford and Violet Grice (Gordon); her son, Leslie Pattison (Helen), daughter, Evelyn Buchanan, son, Douglas Pattison, and son Gordon Pattison (Patricia); her grandchildren, Donald Pattison, Donna Lalonde, Jennifer Buchanan, Jeffery Buchanan, Christine Rooker (Clinton), Corrie Thompson (Darwin), Charlotte Green (Allan), Joyce Pattison (Greg), and Beth Pattison; and sister-in-law, Ellie Pattison.
Also left to mourn Edith are numerous nieces, nephews, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; and former daughter-in-law, Janice Miller.
A her request, there will be no funeral service. A celebration of her life will take place Saturday, July 28, 2012 from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Northridge Funeral Home in Emo, Ont.
