Edith Haw (nee Stang), beloved wife of Bradley Haw of North Branch, Ont., passed away Friday, Feb. 27, 2009 at the Rainy River Health Centre in Rainy River, Ont.
Edith was born in Rainy River to the late William and Myrtle Stang in 1933 and lived all her adult life on a farm in North Branch. She was an avid gardener and craft maker, and enjoyed baking and cooking for family and friends.
On June 16, 1955, Edith was united in marriage to Bradley Haw. Together they raised their family and worked their beef farm.
For 18 years, she worked for Red Cross home care providing compassionate service to many elderly people in the community.
Edith enjoyed her home and always took time out from gardening, cooking, and baking to play games with her grandchildren or to put the coffee pot on for family and friends.
She will be fondly remembered by family and friends, including her many nieces and nephews, brothers- and sisters-in-law, and cousins.
She is survived by her husband, Bradley Haw; five children, Claude (Aileen) of Ottawa, Ont., Debbie (Don) Canfield of Fort Frances, Ont., Keith (Edith) of Stratton, Karen (Stan)
Sockolotuk of Fort Frances, Ont., and Ken (MaryAnn) Haw of Stratton, Ont.; and 11 grandchildren, Liz (Jim) Shivas and Matt Haw, Mike (Kerry), Chad (Sheila), and Megan
Canfield, Nick and Jeremy Haw, Lindsey Sockolotuk, and Mitch, Jessica, and Morgan Haw.
Also surviving are her sister, Kay Neilson; two brothers, Billy (Evelyn) Stang and Wilmer (Marjorie) Stang; and sisters-in law, Grace Stang and Shirley Berg.
She was predeceased by her mother, Myrtle; her father, William; her loving step-father, Clifford Berg; brothers, George Stang and Dale Berg; and brother-in-law, Art Neilson.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 3, 2009 at 11 a.m. at the Northridge Funeral Home in Emo, Ont. Rev. Barb Miller officiated, with interment to take place in North
Branch at a later date.
The pallbearers were Steven Stang, Dwight Stang, Clayton Stang, Curtis Berg, Marty Neilson, and Neil Haw.
