Dwayne “Chief” Morrison passed away on Sunday, October 10, 2021, at the age of 62 following a long battle with cancer. He is a warrior.
Chief was born in Fort Frances, Ont. on January 19, 1959, to parents Joan Calder and Albert “Hat” Morrison. Chief’s passions were sports, music and family. He was known for his love of hockey, playing guitar and his many years of being in the north arm of Rainy Lake working for “Ma Boss”!
Chief’s greatest pride and joy were his children and grandchildren. He loved spending time with them at the rink, having family dinners or storytelling about the good ol’ days.
Chief was the kindest man you’d ever meet and will be missed by many.
He is predeceased by his parents Joan and Hat; sister Loretta; the love of his life Shelley Walton; son Joel Walton; and sister-in-law Donna
Chief is survived by his brothers Ken Morrison and Richard Morrison; Reo (Mandi) Walton; grandchildren Kyle, Shaelyn, Reo Jr., Kayleigh, Kaelyn, Tia, Shae, Bella, Haven, Colby and Landen; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, October 14, 2021, from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, October 16, 2021, from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the Couchiching First Nation Multi Use Facility.
COVID-19 restrictions will be in place for both services, including asking everyone to wear masks, follow social distancing measures and limiting attendance when necessary.
