Surrounded by love and his family, Douglas Hubert McEvoy passed away on August 9, 2022, in Edmonton, Alberta, at the age of 71.
Doug, also known as Max to some, was born in Fort Frances, Ontario. A natural storyteller, Doug often spoke fondly of growing up in his hometown with its colourful people and close friends.
Doug married his beloved wife Patricia McEvoy in 1971 and the two were inseparable for the next fifty years. Their relationship was an enduring example of the vows they took so many decades before: in sickness and in health, for richer, for poorer ‘til death do us part. A lover of music, Doug kept his guitar close and was composing one last love song for his wife at the time of his passing.

Doug spent many years in Winnipeg where he raised his children: Jason (Dianna); Vance (Victoria); Dallas (Thuy); and Mandie. Devoted grandfather to Tia, Mykayla, Ethan, Isabella, Sierra, Lachlan, and Quinn; and great-grandchildren: Tyreese, Clover and Ocean. Doug is predeceased by his parents Vincent and Kathleen and siblings Louise, Bernice, Sheran, James, Bob, Ron and Rick. He is remembered by his sisters Sandra, Leslie, and Dorleen.
Doug developed a love of travel later in his life which took him to countries around the world. He never stopped planning the next adventure. Doug’s pride for his family, love for his friends, and tireless energy playing with his grandchildren will always be remembered.
Doug’s spirit will live on wherever family and friends gather to trade stories over frosty lagers.
A celebration of life will be held September 3, 2022, from 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. at the Four Crowns located at 1030 McPhillips Street, Winnipeg, Manitoba.
