DOUG DESAULNIERS

Doug Armand Desaulniers is now at peace after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
He is lovingly remembered by his children, Todd (Tammy), Tina (Rob), Douglas (Rosellen), and Terry (Bobbi); and his grandchildren, Cassie, Christopher, Tanner, Paris, Nathan, and Ashton.
Doug also is lovingly remembered by his brothers, Joseph and Denis (Elizabeth); and sisters, Elizabeth and Gladys.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Sharon; son, Ricky; and his parents, Bridget and Christopher Desaulniers.
His greatest passion was the love of his family, especially his grandchildren.
Doug was born July 31, 1941 in Rainy River, Ont. He met the love of his life, Sharon, whom he married and resided with in Atikokan, Ont., where they raised a beautiful, loving family.
Doug worked for the Atikokan Township, where he worked closely with his close friend, Jim, and also owned and operated the Atikokan arena and baseball canteens for many years with Sharon.
As well, Doug was president of the Lob Ball Association for a number of years. He definitely was an inspiration to the community of Atikokan.
Doug’s passion was fishing and spending time out at the family camp at Perch Lake. Lots of laughter with family, and watching the grandchildren swim and have fun, brought tremendous joy to Doug.
He will be missed and loved forever. He was a hero to his boys, his daughter, and grandchildren.
A funeral mass was held Friday, Sept. 3, 2010 at St. Patrick’s Church, with Fr. Amaechi officiating.
The pallbearers were Jim Hogan and Robert Paquette, with grandchildren Cassie, Christopher, Tanner, Paris, Nathan, and Ashton serving as honorary pallbearers.
