Dorothy Michl, of 550 Osborne St., Fort Frances, Ont., passed away at La Verendrye General Hospital in Fort Frances on Thursday, Dec. 4, 2003. She was born Aug. 10, 1920 in Franzfeld, Yugoslavia to the late Katherine and Conrad Siraky.
Dorothy immigrated to Canada with her family on Sept. 9, 1928, first living at Gladstone, Man. and later moving to the Stratton, Ont. area in 1930.
Dorothy was united in marriage to Julius Michl on Sept. 1, 1940. Dorothy and Julius moved to Fort Frances in 1974.
Dorothy was predeceased by her husband, Julius, in 1983; her son, Frederick Michl in 1994; her father, Conrad Siraky in 1953; and her mother, Katherine Siraky in 1974. She also was predeceased by a brother, Frederick Siraky in 1939, and her brother, Conrad Siraky in 2003.
Dorothy is survived by her children, Margaret (Hugh) Shields of Atikokan, Ont., Elaine (Gerry) Haberland of Nanaimo, B.C., Katherine (Neil) Cedarwall of Red Rock, Ont., Emelie (Allen) Zimmer of Ignace, Ont., Bill Michl of Fort Frances, Ont., and Bradley (Sharon) Michl of Sioux Lookout, Ont.; daughter-in-law, Patti of Fort St. John, B.C.; and sister, Katherine Schulz of Fort Frances, Ont.
Also surviving are 18 grandchildren, Tim, Juliet, Valerie, Randy, Jerry, Darryl, Lori-Dayle, Robert, Lori-Ann, Tammy, Susan, Debbie, Tyler, Travis, Todd, Teila, Raymond, and Desmond; 27 great-grandchildren, Adam, Savannah, Christopher, Mathew, Brandon, Calie, Jordon, Alexia, Zachary, Aubrey, Chelsey, Willie, Mary, Jacob, Cameron, Spencer, Adrian, Rodney, Trent, Kelsey, Joshua, Kirsten, Kyle, Kayla, Kassandra, Justin, and Devon; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Funeral services were held Monday, Dec. 8, 2003 at 1:30 p.m. at the Stratton United Church in Stratton. Pastor Pat White officiated, with interment in the Stratton Cemetery in Stratton.
The pallbearers were Claude Jodoin, Rueben Korb, Gerry Whalen, Lorne Whalen, Jack Gustafson, and Rodney Lange.
The honourary pallbearers were Evelyn Whalen, Lenora Gustafson, Mary Lange, and Ellen Stutvoet.
