DOROTHY KATHLEEN BENINGER

Dorothy Kathleen Beninger, 84, of Rainycrest Home for the Aged, 550 Osborne St., Fort Frances, Ont., passed away at her residence Saturday, Aug. 9, 1997. She was born Sept. 12, 1912 in Emo, Ont. to the late Walter and Edith Radbourne.
Mrs. Beninger lived most of her life in Emo. She was a school teacher for 35 years, and taught in Emo, Fort Frances, Nestor Falls, Finland, Black Hawk, Morson, and Arbor Vita. She was a member of the Fort Frances-Rainy River Women Teachers’ Association.
She also was the greatest cook, and enjoyed baking for the Emo Fair. Her biggest joy, however, was raising and caring for her family.
Dorothy was united in marriage on Jan. 1, 1940 at the St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church in Fort Frances to Lyall, who survives with three sons, Murray and wife, Sharlene, of Fort Frances, Ont., Ted and wife, Glenda, of Vancouver, B.C., and Robert and wife, Marnie, of Emerson, Man.; and one daughter-in-law, Laurie Beninger of Fort Frances, Ont.
Also surviving are eight grandchildren, Brad Beninger and wife, Patty, of Fort Frances, Ont., Julie and husband, Todd Malpass, of Sault Ste. Marie, Ont., Murray Beninger Jr. of Fort Frances, Ont., Dane and Kyla Beninger of Vancouver, B.C., and Robyn, Neil and Daniel Beninger of Emerson, Man.; one great-granddaughter, Katie Beninger of Fort Frances, Ont.; one sister, Violet and husband, Lyall Baker, of Vancouver, B.C.; one brother, Ken Radbourne and wife, Peggy, of Fort Frances, Ont.; one sister-in-law, Minnie Radbourne of Emo, Ont.; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by one son, Dan Beninger on June 7, 1990; a grandson, Paul Beninger on Dec. 27, 1980; a sister, Jenny Radbourne; brothers, Len and Jack Radbourne; and sister-in-law, Edith Radbourne.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Aug. 12, 1997 at 2 p.m. at Green Funeral Home. Archdeacon Garth Clifford officiated, with interment in Barwick Cemetery in Barwick, Ont.
Friends visited prior to the funeral service on Tuesday at Green Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Bob Radbourne, Calvin Radbourne, Paul Radbourne, Monty Howarth, Brad Beninger, and Murray Beninger Jr.
