It is with deep sadness that the family of Dorothy Gate (McNally), 85, announce her passing on December 17, 2025, at the Rainy River Hospital.
Dorothy was born to Charles and Mabel Blanche McNally (nee Wood) on November 6, 1940, in Rainy River, Ontario.
Dorothy was predeceased by her parents Charles and Mabel McNally and Charles’ parents Cecil Walter Gate and Mabel Antonia Broman; and husband Charles Edward Gate in 2019.
She is survived by son Richard Charles Edward Gate (Natalie) and children Anna Christina Gate, Alison Elizabeth Gate, Christopher Charles Edward Gate (Lisa), Ryan Roberts Gate, Laura Mae Gate and Nicole Noel Gate and son Dean Walter Gate (Carla) and his children Dana Marie Gate, Dean Cecil Walter Gate (Cardi) and Mireya Sara Dawn Gate.
She was predeceased by daughter Melanie Mae Gate (Mason) and survived by William Mark Mason, and Cody Allen Mason.
Dorothy leaves behind siblings Jean Mabel McNally (Carl), Beulah Blanche McNally (Roland), Margaret Rose McNally (Dale) and Dianne Joyce McNally (Jack).
She lost siblings Helen Anna McNally (Ed) (Doug), Norman Charles McNally (Doris), Leslie Roy McNally (Sharon), Donald John McNally (Marilyn), Glen Albert McNally (Dianne) and Floyd Douglas McNally (Margaret).
In the Gate family, she is survived by Walter Larry (Dianne), Alfred Harold (Shelia), Joyce Elleda (Dale/Del) deceased, Elaine Annette (Don) deceased and William Kent (Caroline). Gate family who predeceased her are siblings Anna Marguerite Gate (Joseph), Ronald James (Muriel, living), Doris Melvina (Norman), Cecil Gary (Dixie), Fredrick Robert (Nancy), Keith Wayne (Shane/Donna/Bev).
A service of celebration of life and remembrance will be held on Tuesday, December 30, 2025 at Latter Day Saint Chapel in Bergland, Ontario (Hwy 621). A private family viewing will be held at 9:00 a.m. with a public viewing at 10:00 a.m. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m.

A celebration of life will begin at 1:00 p.m. at Buena Vista Restaurant, 155 Buena Vista Drive, Morson, Ontario (Off Vauthey Road). All are welcome to celebrate Dorothy’s life with food, music and photos.
