Dorothy (Eberly) Steiner, of Stratton, Ont., peacefully passed on, at home, to her eternal reward on Saturday, Nov. 14, 2015, at age 88 years, nine months, and nine days.
She was born Feb. 5, 1927 to Clayton and Carrie Eberly at Dalton, Ohio.
Early in her life, Dorothy accepted Christ as her personal saviour and was baptized at the County Line Mennonite Church in Dalton. Attendance at church and being active in the Lord’s work were always her priority.
On Oct. 10, 1948, she was united in marriage to Carl Steiner (Jan. 18, 1927-May 15, 1981).
They enjoyed 32 years, seven months, and five days together. She was a widow for 34 years, five months, and 30 days.
God blessed this union with eight sons and two daughters, Dale (Miriam) of Salmon Arm, B.C., Chester (Marilyn) of Hague, Sask., James (Anne) of Stratton, Ont., Gerald (Martha) of Cambridge Springs, Penn., Kenneth (Susan) of Thorpe, Wis., Harry (Eleanor) of Barwick, Ont., Nancy (Carl Martin) of Stratton, Ont., Dennis (Betzy) of Eden, Ont., Donna (Timothy Martin) of Stratton, Ont., and Dwayne of Fort Frances, Ont.
She will be greatly missed by her 10 children, 88 grandchildren, and 194 great-grandchildren.
She also is survived by five brothers, Homer (Marian) of Orrville, Ohio, John (Ruby) of Blountstown, Fla., Clarence (Luella) of Kidron, Ohio, Ray (Carol) of Selinsgrove, Penn.; and Glenn (Emma) of Kidron, Ohio; two sisters, Edna of Rittman, Ohio and Wilma (Tilman Steiner) of Salem, Ohio; and five in-laws, Mary Eberly (Lloyd), Lois Eberly (Earl), Esther Steiner (Cleophas), and Raymond and Lucille Steiner.
In addition to her husband, Carl, Dorothy was predeceased by one grandson, Daniel; two great-granddaughters, Angela and Jewel; one great-grandson, Jeffery; four brothers, Albert, Wain, Lloyd, and Earl; two sisters, Mildred Eberly and Ethel (John) Amstutz; and 13 in-laws.
In May, 1963, Carl, Dorothy, and family moved from Orrville to Barwick, where they resided until Carl died.
Dorothy then moved to Stratton to be by her daughter, Nancy, where she resided until her death.
Dorothy was a faithful member in the Woodside Conservative Mennonite Church at Pinewood, Ont.
Funeral services were planned for Wednesday, Nov. 18, 2015 at 10 a.m. at the Barwick Hall, with interment at Pineview Cemetery.
