DOROTHY BELLE WILLIAMSON

Dorothy Belle Williamson, 88, of Rainycrest Home for the Aged, Fort Frances, Ont., passed away Friday, July 10, 1998 at her residence.
Dorothy was born Oct. 9, 1909 in Dubuque, Iowa to the late George and Mary Jewett. As a young child, she moved with her family to North Branch, Ont. in 1911.
On Nov. 5, 1926, she was united in marriage to Mervin R. Williamson. In the early 1960s, Dorothy and Mervin moved to Fort Frances, where she had lived until her passing. She worked as a cook in several local restaurants in Fort Frances. Dorothy enjoyed travelling, bingo, handiwork, gardening, and especially spending time with her family.
She was predeceased by her husband, Robert “Mervin” Williamson (Oct. 2, 1994); four brothers, Harold, LaVerne, Gerald, and William Jewett; and three sisters Besse, Francis, and Edith.
Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Lois and husband, Ralph Block, of Phoenix, Az.; two sons, Omer Williamson and wife, Constance, and Melvin Williamson and wife, Donna, all of Fort Frances, Ont.; seven grandchildren, Dwight Williamson of Fort Frances, Ont., Carla and husband, Glen Carmody, of Kelowna, B.C., Maureen Inkster of Kelowna, B.C., Tanis and husband, Troy Mann, of Fort Frances, Ont., Jason Williamson of Fort Frances, Ont., Karin and husband, David Jazinski, and Linda and husband, Bob Epley, all of Phoenix, Az.; four great-grandchildren, Craig, Jacob, Joel, and Jake; brother, Ivan Jewett and wife, Ruth, of Thunder Bay, Ont.; sister, Evelyn Gray of Humbolt, Sask.; sister-in-law, Laura Jewett of Atikokan, Ont.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Thursday, July 16, 1998 at 1 p.m. at Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances. Rev. Patrick Playfair officiated, with interment in Riverview Cemetery in Fort Frances.
Friends visited Wednesday, July 15, 1998 from 7-9 p.m. at Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances.
Pallbearers were David Craven, Louis Bang, Marion Benjamin, Terry Jewett, Edward Jewett, and Keith Jewett.
