It is with great sadness that the family of Dorothea Tolen (nee Marquardt) announce her passing, quietly, on Sunday, Jan. 31, 2016 at the age of 92 at Rainycrest Long-Term Care in Fort Frances, Ont.
She was born Dec. 8, 1923 in Germany to Joseph and Ida Marquardt.
She was predeceased by her husband, Robert Victor Tolen on June 29, 2009 and is survived by her four children, Gary (Joy Anne), Sandy (Jim) Hogan, Brad (Doreen), and Cindy (Rick Westberg).
Dorothea will be missed by her seven grandchildren, Kim, Kerri, Kelly, Kristina, Steve, Robert, and Donny; and 11 great-grandchildren, Hailey, Victoria, Dax, Klyde, Tia, Ty, Zac, Abby, Luca, Julen, and Gianna.
She also is survived by her sisters-in-law, Eleanor Marquardt and Joyce Albright; brother-in-law, Austin Thomas; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Dorothea was predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Ida; sisters, Dell (Douglas) McLeod and Anne Thomas; and brother, Rudy Marquardt.
For many years, the family and friends had many fond memories of visits to Vic and Dots Camp in Nestor Falls.
A celebration of life and remembrance was held Thursday, Feb. 4, 2016 at 11 a.m. at the Northridge Funeral Home in Emo, Ont., with Rev. Frances Flook officiating.
Interment will take place in Blue Cemetery at a later date.
The pallbearers will be Kim Beaudry, Kerri Tolen, Kelly Tolen, Kristina Pizzi, Zac Tolen and Rebecca Tolen.
The honourary pallbearers will be Donny Tolen, Robert Tolen, Wayne Sandmoen, Mike Bourre, Rick Bourre, Charlotte Hogan, Steve Hogan, Victoria Beaudry, Abby Tolen, and Hailey Beaudry.
