On Saturday, Nov. 18, 2006, with her daughters at her side, Dorothea Georgina Mary “Georgie” Peloquin (nee Rekert) passed away in Thunder Bay, Ont.
She leaves to honour and cherish her memory two daughters, Lynette and husband, John Zirk, of Oakbank, Man., and Lauris Werenko of Fort Frances, Ont.; and three grandsons, Frank and Clinton Zirk, and Jon Allan Werenko.
She was predeceased by her husband, Frank; and parents, Gwendolyne and Reginald Rekert.
Georgie was born June 3, 1927 and grew up in Regina, Sask. She later moved to Fort Frances, where she met and married Frank “Waugh.”
Georgie skillfully combined the art of homemaking with her long career of secretary at Robert Moore School. During this time, she helped her husband realize his dream of having a cabin by the lake.
She liked to travel, and toured Europe and many exotic locations. Her greatest love in life, though, was her family and she devoted her self tirelessly.
Cremation has taken place and a private family service was held at Green Funeral Home, with Pastor Brian Keffer officiating.
Her friends Diane Maxey and Cathy Robinson provided the music, singing her favourite hymns, “Just As I Am” and “Softly and Tenderly.”
Interment followed at Riverview Cemetery in Fort Frances.
In memoriam donations may be made to the Lakehead Psychiatric Hospital—Dementia Care Unit, 580 Algoma St. N., Thunder Bay, Ont., P7B 5G4 or c/o Green Funeral Home, 600 Reid Ave., Box 427, Fort Frances, Ont., P9A 3M8.
