Doris May Donaldson, 98, of Rainycrest Home for the Aged, 550 Osborne St., Fort Frances, Ont., passed away at her residence Friday, Feb. 16, 2001.
She was born March 24, 1902 in Nelson, Lancashire, England to the late Robert and Catherine Mould.
Mrs. Donaldson came to Canada in 1907 and settled in Nokomis, Sask. She later met and married Jasper in 1922 in Alberta and together they farmed there for three years. In 1925, after a brief stay in Kenora, Ont., they moved to the Donaldson farm in Burriss, Ont.
In the fall of 1975, Doris moved to Fort Frances, where she had lived since. She was a member of Knox United Church in Fort Frances.
Doris was united in marriage to Jasper Marlin Donaldson, who predeceased her Jan. 25, 1969. She also was predeceased by her son, Lyle in 1958; sisters, Laura Brown, Ada Halstead, and Gertrude (in infancy); brother, Harry Mould; and an infant great-granddaughter, Sarah.
She is survived by two daughters, Crete and husband, Lawrence McLeod, and Sheila and husband, Glenn Manty, all of Fort Frances, Ont.; and son, Gale and wife, Elizabeth, of Devlin, Ont. Also surviving are 13 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2001 at 2 p.m. at Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances, with Rev. Frances Flook officiating. The music for the service was provided by Doris’ grandchildren, Dianne DeBenedet and RobRoy Donaldson.
Friends visited Monday, Feb. 19, 2001 from 7 until 8 p.m. at Green Funeral Home. Interment will take place in Burriss Cemetery in Burriss at a later date.
Honourary pallbearers were Doris’ grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
