Doris L. Pope (nee Dalseg), 84, passed away Sunday, Sept. 30, 2007 at Rainycrest in Fort Frances, Ont.
Doris was born March 14, 1923 in Hibbing, Mn. to the late Maurice and Clara Dalseg. She married the late Alex Pope in 1947.
Doris was a member of the Nestor Falls United Church and played the organ for many years. She also was an active member of the United Church Women and the Nestor Falls Curling Club.
Doris enjoyed knitting, and was well-known for her cooking in her younger years at her father’s camp (Dalseg’s Virgin Pine Camp) and in her later years when Doris and Alex owned and operated the Cottage Café in Nestor Falls.
Doris is survived by her sons, Jack Pope and his wife, Mary, and Bill Pope and his wife, Nancy, all of Nestor Falls, Ont.; grandchildren, Shane (Gina) Pope, Brant (Joanne) Pope, Susanne, and Shanna Pope; and two great-grandchildren.
She also is survived by her brother, Jack (Phyllis) Dalseg of Nestor Falls, Ont.; and sister-in-law, Gordie (Burdette) Redding of Port Townsend, Wash.
Also survived by her step-children, Cecile (Jim) Cole of Nestor Falls, Ont. and Ross (Sheila) Pope of Kelowna B.C.; and their children and grandchildren.
Doris was predeceased by her husband, Alex; son, Jimmy; sisters, Janet Folger and Muriel Davidson; and brother, Robert Dalseg.
A memorial service will be held Frday, Oct. 5, 2007 at 2 p.m. at the Nestor Falls United Church in Nestor Falls.
Interment in Nestor Falls Cemetery at a later date.
