DORIS ANN ‘DORIE’ DENNIS

With family by her side Doris Ann “Dorie” Dennis passed away peacefully on Saturday, Oct. 26, 2019 at Rainycrest Long Term Care.
Dorie was born on Aug. 1, 1935 in Fort Frances, Ont. to Bo and Muriel Readman.
She was raised in Fort Frances before attending school in Thunder Bay to become a RNA.
She worked a short time, in Thunder Bay, before meeting Harold Dennis.
They were united in marriage on April 21, 1956 and together they started the Mine Centre Resort.
Dorie loved to be in Mine Centre, she loved to swim, pick blueberries and volunteer in the community.
She was very proud to have the St. John’s First Aid Post for many years.
She enjoyed many trips with Harold during the winter.
Dorie loved to be surrounded by her family and the addition of her grandchildren made everything so much better.
She enjoyed trips to the lake, watching their events and sports and could be found volunteering at their school frequently.
She leaves behind her sons, Murray (Barbe), Lyle (Rhondele) and Fred (Anna) all of Mine Centre; grandchildren, Nicolas, Reed, Daniel (Emily), Kyle, Maddisyn and Myla; great-grandsons, Beau and Marshall; siblings, Pat (John) Coberg, Jerry (Arlene) Readman and Rebecca (Larry) Sweigard; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Dorie was predeceased by her parents, Bo and Muriel; husband, Harold; and brother, Kenneth Readman.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, Nov. 1, 2019 at 2 p.m. at Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances, Ont. with Pastor Diane Clifford officiating.
