DOREEN GRAY

Doreen Gray (nee Brown), who was born August 8, 1918 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, passed away on August 6, 2009 at La Verendrye Hospital in Fort Frances, Ontario at the age of 90.
On December 5, 1936, Doreen married the love of her life, Joseph William Gray.
The couple spent the early years of their life together residing in St. Boniface, Manitoba before moving with their young family to Arbor-Vitae, Ontario in the early 1940s.
Times were often tough, but the couple did their best to provide for their family. Tending the farm, helping neighbours, riding the horse-drawn sleigh to school Christmas concerts, and watching their parents waltz at home are all memories shared by those raised there.
Doreen and Joe later moved to La Vallee before finally making their home in Barwick. In all, Doreen and Joe raised 11 children.
Seeing a young child would always bring a smile to her face and a twinkle to her eye. Her love for children was extended to the many children she had babysat throughout the years.
Before moving to Rainycrest, “BINGO” was a word Doreen loved to say, if luck was on her side, while living at Green Manor in Fort Frances. Those close to her knew she would be faithfully taking part in the Thursday night ritual.
Doreen was predeceased by her husband, Joseph William Gray Sr., in 1972; son, Donald Gray; and daughter, Joan Thornson.
Doreen is survived by her children: Joseph (Ruth) Gray, Robert (Linda) Gray, Jack (Camie) Gray, Patsy Buttner, Gladys Williams, Betty Ann Trotter, Linda Lynch, Judy (Jake) Smith, and Bonnie (Stan) Jonassen.
She is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
At Doreen’s request, there will be no service. Interment will take place at a later date.
