Doreen Geary, 70, of 618 Second St. W., Fort Frances, Ont., passed away suddenly at her home Saturday, Jan. 2, 1999.
She was born July 28, 1928 in Fort Frances to the late Gordon and Inez Breckon. Doreen received her education in Fort Frances, and was a graduate of Fort Frances High School and Miss Leslie’s Business School.
On March 21, 1959, she was united in marriage to Thomas Earl Geary.
Most recently, Doreen had worked at Modern Plumbing and the Northwestern Health Unit in Fort Frances. She also was a member of the Eastern Star, M.S. Society, Arthritis Association, and the La Verendrye General Hospital Auxiliary.
She was predeceased by three brothers-in-law, Alvin Brown, William Makarenko, and Donald Ball; and by her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Susan and Thomas Geary.
Doreen is survived by her husband, Earl Geary of Fort Frances, Ont.; two sisters, Lois (Jim) Witherspoon and Shirley Brown, all of Fort Frances, Ont.; three brothers-in-law, Jack (June) Geary of Kenora, Ont., Hugh (Helen) Geary of Fort Frances, Ont., and Edward (Lynda) Geary of Kenora, Ont.; five sisters-in-law, Elsie Ball and May Swartman of Fort Frances, Ont., Jean Geary of Winnipeg, Man., and Nellie (Lawrence) Derouard and Susan (Harold) Wilson, all of Kenora, Ont.; and numerous nieces and nephews in Fort Frances, Kenora, Winnipeg, Kakabeka, and Thunder Bay, Ont.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, Jan. 6, 1999 at 2 p.m. at Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances. Rev. Patrick Playfair officiated, with interment in Riverview Cemetery in Fort Frances.
Honourary pallbearers were Glenn Westover, Barry Cox, Gordon Matheson, Wilfred Sanders, Aron Geary, Harvey Flamand, Arthur Rudolph, and Tom Yuill.
