It is with great sadness that the family of Mary Doreen Allan announces her passing on Friday, April 12, 2013 at La Verendrye General Hospital in Fort Frances, Ont.
Doreen was born May 19, 1932 in Fort Frances to Fred and Agnes Crowe. She was one of 11 children.
She lived in Fort Frances all of her life, working at various businesses, including Wrightway Market, Safeway, the New Lunch Café, and Rainycrest.
She was united in marriage to George Allan on Feb. 7, 1950. Together they fished commercially for many years.
Doreen was very family-oriented. She was the centre of all the families. Whenever anyone needed a place to stay or just to talk, they always would come see Auntie Doreen.
She doted on and cared for her grandchildren. She took in many of her nieces and nephews, and they all had a very special place in her heart.
She leaves behind her children, Dannette, Doug, Ben, and Greg (Cindy) Allan; grandchildren, Michael and Amanda (Scott Dean); brother, Tom Crowe; sister, Betty-Lou Larson; her extended kids, Debbie Bird and Debbie Perusse and families; as well as many other family and friends.
Doreen was predeceased by her parents; husband, George; daughter, Debbie; brothers, Dan, Doug, Ben, David, and Wallace Crowe; and sisters Ann Marie Bruyere, Rita Kielczewski, and Janet Crowe.
Cremation has take place and a graveside service will be held at a later date.
