It is with great sadness that the family of Donna Morrison announces her passing on Friday, May 25, 2018 at La Verendrye General Hospital in Fort Frances, Ont.
Donna was born on Feb. 8, 1949 to Jack and Madeline Cargill. She grew up in Fort Frances and lived here all her life.
She worked at tourist camps as a young woman. She loved to be at home, tending to her garden, baking, and cooking. She also enjoyed music and had many great trips to “WeFest.”
In 1999, she started her battle with cancer. She was a strong, brave, and determined woman who fought valiantly to the end.
She leaves behind her husband, Ken Morrison; children, Shannon Jerry (Alex Darling), Kevin Jerry (Barb Jewell), Shane Jerry, and Brandy (Chris) Hulette; grandchildren, Ashlie (Craig) Bagacki, Melissa (Chris) Christian, Joshua Swire, Ashlyn Jewell (Tyler), Katlynn Jewell (Ian), Shaylynn Jerry, Bud Jerry, and Shyla, Kiera, Liam, and William Hulette; and great-grandchildren, Leah, Even, Alexa, Emma, Adalynn, Laylah, Brynnlee, and Ellie.
She also is survived by her special niece, Ann Marie Craig and adopted daughter, Amanda Claydon; brothers-in-law, Bob Wilson, Richard (Dick) Morrison, and Duane (Chief) Morrison; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Donna was predeceased by her parents, Jack and Madeline; brothers, John, Kenny, and Ricky Cargill; sister, Margaret Wilson; daughter-in-law, Amanda Jerry; and sister-in-law, Loretta Morrison.
A memorial service was held Thursday, May 31, 2018 at 2 p.m. at Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances, with Pastor Brian Keffer officiating.
A reception immediately followed the service at the Métis Hall in Fort Frances.
The honourary pallbearers were Linda Dunbar, Heidi Bolen-Kruger, Pete Bruyere, Ed Natawance, Jason Mainville, Jake Tucker, Darrel (Dobbie) Klyne, AnnMarie Craig, and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
