Donalda Marguerite Sharpe passed away Monday, Oct. 24, 2011.
Donalda was predeceased by her parents, Glen and Frieda Stewart; husband, George Sharpe in 1988; and daughter, Susan in 2007.
Donalda is survived by her daughter, Leslie Sharpe (Bill Gallant); grandson, William Mark Boles; and great-granddaughter, Kara Boles.
She also is survived by her siblings, Beth Frederick, Lillian Walsh, and David Stewart and their families; as well as in-laws and many nieces and nephews in the Sharpe family.
Born March 25, 1926 in Winnipeg, Man., Donalda lived for 81 years in Pine Falls, Man. before relocating to Fort Frances, Ont. in 2007.
A stenographer, Donalda worked several years before her marriage and again from 1973-87 for the Abitibi-Price Paper Company in Pine Falls.
Prior to 1973, after some years spent at home raising two girls, she had worked for eight years for the Department of Indian Affairs in Pine Falls.
Donalda was a life-time member of the Pine Falls Curling Club, a proud A.A. member, and a member of the Legion Ladies Auxiliary and of the Pine Falls United Church.
She had served on the executives of all of these organizations.
In Fort Frances, Donalda attended Knox United Church.
While she had travelled to Hawaii, Mexico, Great Britain, Australia, New Zealand, the Yukon and Alaska, the memories mom most cherished were of good times spent for 27 years with family and friends at the cottage at Wallace Lake, near Bissett, Man.
Exhausted by ill-health, mom took great comfort in her staunch belief that she would be reunited with those she cherished and missed who had gone before her.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will take place Thursday, Nov. 3, 2011 at 11 a.m. at the Pine Falls United Church in Pine Falls.
As per Donalda’s wishes, flowers are gratefully declined. Those who wish may make an in memoriam donation to Food for the Hungry or a charity of their choice c/o Northridge Funeral Home, P.O. Box 89, Emo, Ont., P0W 1E0.
