DONALD MORRISON JR.
It is with deep sadness that the family announces the passing of Donald Morrison Jr., 57, who died peacefully at his home on Friday, Oct. 5, 2007 following a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born Feb. 13, 1950 in Rainy River, Ont. to Donald and Bessie Morrison. He grew up in the Morson, Ont. and the Lake of the Woods area.
He worked as a fishing guide for various tourist camps in the area. His love for fishing and hunting was evident throughout his life.
He also enjoyed playing the guitar, cards, board games, and bingo. He loved visiting with family and friends, and also really enjoyed cooking.
In 1977, Donnie and his spouse, Virginia, moved to Winnipeg, Man. He lived and worked there for 20 years before moving back in 1997 and residing in Rainy River.
Donnie is survived by his spouse, Virginia; his six children, Pamela of Grand Rapids, Mich., Tracy of Vancouver, B.C., Denise (Reed) of West Palm Beach, Fla., Candace of Newton, Kan., Donald Riel of Osseo, Mn., and Amanda of Duluth, Mn.; and six grandchildren, Justin, Jordan, Phoenix, Joaquin (Gonzalez), Jessica (Gonzalez), and Jada (Gonzalez).
Also surviving are five sisters, Elizabeth Detweiler, Donna Prince, Karol Morrison, Barbara Reardon, and Joyce Smith; four brothers, Fred, Reggie, Robert, and Tim; and his mother, Bessie Morrison, of Rainy River, Ont.
He also is survived by numerous nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by one daughter, Tina, in 1972; and his father, Donald Morrison Sr., in 1987,
Funeral services were held Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. at the Big Grassy Community Hall in Morson. Pastor Wally Detweiler Sr. will officiate.
Interment will be at Bergland Cemetery in Bergland, Ont.
The pallbearers will be Louis Kirkrude, Robert Handorgan, William Handorgan, Roy Tom, Wesley Debungie, Tony Reed, Melvin Morrison, and Lesley Morrison.
The honourary pallbearers will be Ian Detweiler, Darren Prince, Ashton Reardon, Ryan Morrison, Wallace Detweiler Jr., Buck Morrison, and Leonard Morrison.
