Donald Norman Mason, 82, of International Falls, Mn., passed away Wednesday, April 6, 2016 at the Rainy Lake Medical Center in International Falls.
He was born Dec. 17, 1933 in Fort Frances, Ont.
Don was united in marriage to the love of his life, “American Girlfriend” Pamela Morse in 1957.
In 1960, Don took over ownership of Harold’s Men’s Store from his father-in-law, Harold Morse. Over the period from 1963-2006, he owned and operated Harold’s for Him & Her, Country Road’s, and Mason’s Men’s Shop up until 2006, when he retired and turned over the business to his daughter, Nancy.
Don was a charter member of the International Falls Jaycees, Chamber of Commerce, Philosopher’s Club, and the Falls Country Club. Don also was a star athlete in football and hockey for Fort Frances High School.
Don loved his pets and adopted the last two. He enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren play hockey, baseball, softball, and all of their activities. He also enjoyed watching Riley’s Fast Pitch Softball team play, hockey weekends at UMD, and the Smokey Bear Golf Tournament weekend.
He was predeceased by his parents, Roy and Delia “Dolly” Mason of Fort Frances, Ont.
Don is survived by his wife, Pamela Mason, of International Falls, Mn.; sons, Robert (Victoria) Mason of Bloomington, Mn., and Bill (Shawn) Mason and Jim (Stephanie) Mason of International Falls, Mn.; daughter, Nancy (Mike) Imhof of Littlefork, Mn.; grandchildren, Lindsey Imhof, Mason Imhof, Aleisha Mason, Myles Mason, Josie Mason, Tyler Toratti, and Kyle Toratti; and brother, Edgar (Diane) Mason of Dryden, Ont.
Visitation will be held Sunday, April 10, 2016 from 2-4 p.m. at Green-Larsen Mortuary in International Falls.
Funeral services will held Monday, April 11, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Faith United Church of Christ in International Falls.
Interment will be at Forest Hill Cemetery.
