It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Donald John MacLean, 58, of Bears Pass, Ont., on Wednesday, March 20, 2002 with his loving family by his side.
Don was born in Halifax, N.S. on Nov. 20, 1943, but moved to Fort William, Ont. after the war. After finishing school, Don got a job with Bell Canada, where he was employed for 31 years.
His job took him to Geraldton, Ont., where he met and married Carol Westover on Aug. 30, 1969. In 1970, Don and Carol moved to Fort Frances and raised their family.
Don and Carol purchased property in Bears Pass in 1988 and built a home there in 1992. Don retired from Bell Canada in December, 1997, which gave him more time to enjoy his favourite pastimes of golfing, fishing, and spending time outdoors.
He was a caring and dedicated husband and father, who loved being with his family at their home on the lake
He was predeceased by his mother- and father-in-law, “Bob” and Marg Westover.
Don’s memory will be cherished by his wife, Carol, and daughter, Rebecca, both of Bears Pass, Ont., and son, Don, of Thunder Bay, Ont.
He also will be remembered by his parents, Donald and Nora; three brothers, Jim (Pam), Doug (Sandra), and Bill (Nancy), and by his sister, Heather Randle (Stan), all of Thunder Bay, Ont.; as well as by numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
Should they desire, friends and family can make donations in Don’s memory to either the Riverside Foundation for Health Care or the Palliative Care Volun-teer Program, both at 110 Victoria Ave., Fort Frances, Ont., P9A 2B7.
