It is with great regret that the family of Donald Fredrick Rivest announces his passing on Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2014 after a lengthy and courageous health fight.
Don was born Oct. 5, 1953 in New Westminster, B.C. to Bernard and Margaret Rivest.
He grew up in Winnipeg, Man., attended Kelvin High School, and graduated from Tech Voc as a draftsman.
After graduation, Don worked for Pioneer Electric in Red Deer, Alta. before joining the staff of Manitoba Hydro—from Taylor Ave. to Jenpeg to Gillam—until his retirement in 2005.
Don is survived by his wife, Nancy; son, Kyle; daughters, Erin and Dena (Dustin) Taraschuk; and his mother, Margaret.
He also is survived by numerous brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews.
Don was predeceased by his sister, Janet; aunt, Shirley Dickinson; and mother-in-law, Ella Carruthers.
