In loving memory of Donald (Gandy) Woods, 71, who passed away Saturday, Jan. 4, 2003 at Rainycrest Home for the Aged in Fort Frances, Ont.
He was born Feb. 15, 1931 to William (Captain Billy) and Marguerite Woods. Gandy worked in the bush or on the lake since he was 12 years old, where he had the opportunity to work on the Hallett.
He also had worked at a couple of different jobs until he then settled in at the Fort Frances High School as a janitor. He retired from the high school at the age of 65.
He was a very hard-working man and earned respect through his work.
In Gandy’s early years, he enjoyed hunting and fishing with his father and brothers. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, and he also enjoyed watching sports.
Gandy was always at the “rink,” whether it was indoors or outdoors. When he wasn’t at the rink, he’d be running his best friend, “Charlie,” his beloved dog, or on his way to pick up Owen to go to Menards!
Gandy always had a kind word for anyone who came his way, and he will be fondly remembered by each and every one of them.
Gandy will be greatly missed by his wife, Darlene; children, Donald (Valerie) Anderson of Sioux Lookout, Ont., and Darwin (Michelle) Woods and Cindy Woods, all of Fort Frances, Ont.; and grandchildren, Jody-Leigh Anderson, Eric Anderson, Joshua Anderson, Savannah Woods, Garrett Woods, Tianna Williamson, and Jenna Williamson.
He also will be greatly missed by his sisters, Rose (Dick) Bird of Fort Frances, Ont., Beatrice Magel of Red Lake, Ont., Lila Schaff of Minnesota, and Dolly Johnson of Thunder Bay, Ont.; brother, Art “Chaw” (Jean) Woods; sisters-in-law, Gwen Perlette, Lorraine Stevens, and Marie (Colin) Crown; brothers-in-law, Bruce (Pearl) Houck, Mervin (Jane) Houck, and Dennis Pikowski; aunt, Agnes George; and special friend, Muggins George.
He was predeceased by his parents; brother, Eugene Woods; and brothers-in-law, Bill Perlette and Earl Stevens.
