William Donovan Start, 94, of Abbotsford, B.C., passed away peacefully Thursday, May 31, 2001.
Don was predeceased by his wife, Germaine, in 1989.
Surviving are his son, Hube, and wife, Karen, of Abbotsford; grandchildren, Jan and Dale and their families; and sister, Kathleen.
Born in Curries, Ont., Don graduated in Forestry from the University of Toronto in 1930, and married Germaine Nicole of Grand Mere, Que. in 1937.
They lived in Kenora, Ont. for 20 years before moving to Fort Frances, Ont. in 1963.
After many years as chief forester of the Minnesota and Ontario Pulp & Paper Co. in both communities, Don retired in 1971. He then was able to more fully pursue his favourite pastime of gardening.
