Dina Perin, 80, of Rainycrest Home for the Aged, formerly of 1008 Walker Ave., Fort Frances, Ont., passed away at her residence Friday, Sept. 21, 2001.
Dina was born Dec. 29, 1920 in Pordenone, Italy to the late Angelo and Emilia Martin. On Jan. 25, 1941, she was united in marriage to Enrico Perin.
Dina moved to Canada with her son, Sergio, in 1949 and settled in Fort Frances. Dina worked in housekeeping at La Verendrye General Hospital from 1952 until her retirement in 1977.
She was a member of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church and the C.W.L. Dina also was a member of the La Verendrye General Hospital Ladies Auxiliary, and former member of the Italian Women’s Association.
For enjoyment, she loved knitting for her family, friends, and the Canadian Cancer Society in Thunder Bay. Dina loved her family very much, and will be missed by them and by her many friends.
Dina is survived by her husband, Enrico Perin of Fort Frances, Ont.; two sons, Sergio Perin and wife, Marguerite, of Hearst, Ont., and Albert Perin and wife, Donna, of Winnipeg, Man.; and four grandsons, Stephen, Richard, Matthew, and Jeffrey Perin.
She also is survived by one sister, Amelia and husband, Eugenio Endrigo, of Italy; five brothers, Sante Martin and wife, Nina, and Aldo Martin and wife, Argenide, all of Pordenone, Italy, and Mario Martin and wife, Anna, Nello Martin and wife, Adriana, and Rino Martin and wife, Adelia, all of Italy; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2001 at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church in Fort Frances, with Father Eugene Whyte O.M.I. officiating.
Cremation will take place, with interment in Riverview Cemetery at a later date.
Friends may visit Monday, Sept. 24, 2001 from 7:30 until 9 p.m. at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church in Fort Frances. Parish prayers will be offered at 8 p.m.
Pallbearers will be David Ferguson, John LePine, David Delzotto, Robert Belluz, Seppo Viherjoki, and John Kepes.
Honourary pallbearers will be Noris Piccinato, Sterling Douglas, Raymond Coran and Cam Belluz, Harold Peterson, and Ilio Gushulak.
