Peacefully, in the comfort of home with loved ones, on Saturday. March 1, 2014 at the age of 72, Diane met her brief battle with cancer with characteristic strength and dignity.
Adored and loving wife of 47 years to George; proud mom to Christopher (Betty), Tracey, and Kimberly (Peter Downing); dedicated grandma to Teagan, Colby, Hannah, Jackson, and Emily; dear sister to Sonny (Fred) Gladu of Victoria, B.C. and Jackie McLeod of Winnipeg, Man.; and sister-in-law to Ken, Ray, and Donna, all of Thunder Bay, Ont.
Diane also will be forever cherished by her nieces, nephews, and cousins she so loved.
She was predeceased by her parents, Anne and Jack Marrs; mother- and father-in-law, Emil and Dora; brother-in-law, Alvin; and sister-in-law, Evelyn.
Welcoming everyone into her home, Diane touched the lives of many with her selflessness and pure, kind-hearted generosity.
She was a devoted mom and grandma who played an integral part in their lives, volunteering her time, being hands-on and involved in all that mattered to them.
Her genuine warmth, wisdom, and welcoming heart will be sadly missed and never forgotten. She brought the magic of the Easter Bunny, Cupid, and Santa Claus into their lives.
Friends may attend the Roadhouse and Rose Funeral Home, 157 Main St. S., Newmarket, Ont., on Friday, March 7, 2014 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-9 p.m. for visitation.
Funeral service in the chapel on Saturday, March 8, 2014 at 2 p.m. Reception to follow.
A private internment at the Newmarket Cemetery will take place in the spring.
If desired, in memoriam donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
