DIANA MAY ROSS

Diana May Ross, 85, of Fort Frances, Ont., passed away Friday, Aug. 28, 2009 at La Verendrye General Hospital in Fort Frances.
Diana was born May 22, 1924 in Sussex, England to Charles and Frances Powell. She spent her childhood and early adult years in England, training to become a nurse.
In 1942, she was married to John James Ross. She came to Canada a war bride, settling in Rainy River, Ont. in July, 1946.
In 1954, the family moved to Fort Frances.
Diana was a member of the Rebekah Lodge for many years. In her spare time she loved going for walks, bowling, and gardening.
She was predeceased by her husband, John, in 1961; parents, Charles and Frances Powell; son, Colin Stuart Ross; sisters, Clara Thomas, Betty Williams, and Vera Riley; and brother, Charles Powell.
Diana leaves behind her children, Jacolyn Godin of Whitehorse, Yukon, Susan Ross of Fort Frances, Ont., Deborah Miller (Gordon) of Rivers, Man., Douglas Ross (Sharon) of Edmonton, Alta., Bonnie Ross (Lloyd Williams) of Hamilton, Ont., and Peter (Linda) Ross; as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are her brother, Tony Powell of Hastings, England; and sister, Amy Chandler of Bristol, England.
A memorial service was held Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2009 at 1 p.m. at Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances, with Fr. Wayne McIntosh officiating.
