DESMOND LEE DEBUNGIE

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our son and brother, who was born on April 14, 1978 and was taken suddenly by the great spirits at his home on Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2001. He suffered and bravely battled a rare form of cancer for the past three years.
Desmond enjoyed life to the fullest. He especially loved to be with his wife Katie and his pride & joy, Daeton Andru Jamieson.
Desmond enjoyed the outdoors, observing eagles and attending pow-wows.
He was class valedictorian at his high school graduation at Seven Generations. His life ambition was to become a Police Officer. He had a special affection for his mentors, Brent Tookeny and Brock Madill. He also had a special friendship with Constable Armand Jourdain. When he spent time in the hospital, he always had time to visit and joke with the nursing staff. He cherished their friendships.
On most Sunday mornings, Des would have breakfast with his parents, his brother and sisters and would stay until Nascar was over.
Dez’s prized possession was his car which he kept immaculate. We would like to thank the staff at Sight & Sound, Miles Kupila and Richard from Winnipeg for helping Dez fulfill his dream of his “perfect car.”
He will be missed terribly. Desmond leaves to mourn his wife Katie and son, Daeton. Parents, Tony Bombay and Verna; brother, A.J.; sisters, Andrea, Kristina and Ashley; grandparents, Roseanne Leonard, Peter and Mary Debungee, numerous aunts and uncles and many, many cousins.
We would like to also thank the Manitou First Response Team, Emo Ambulance and staff at La Verendrye Hospital.
A wake will be held at the Manitou Rapids Gymnasium on Thursday evening with services and interment being held Friday, Aug. 23, 2001, commencing at 10 a.m. with Rev. Frances Flook officiating.
Pallbearers are Craig Jourdain, Robin McGinnis, Steve Leonard, Domenic Servello, Percy Legarde, and Paul Bundgaard.
Honourary pallbearers are Liz Bombay, John Bombay, Suzie Jones, Greg Bombay Jr., Eleanor Jourdain, James A. Leonard, Margaret (Baby) White, Tara Hunter and Jenny Sadewasser.
Desmond took great pride in his siblings endeavours–Andrea off to Police College; Kristina’s singing talent; Ashley’s artistic abilities and A.J.’s hockey.
In memoriam donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, P.O. Box 444, Fort Frances, Ont., P9A 3M8.
