It is with great sadness that the family of Derek James Pollard, of 1301 Elizabeth St. E., Fort Frances, Ont., announces his sudden passing at his home on Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2012.
Derek was born Oct. 1, 1957 in Fort Frances. He lived in Thompson, Man. from 1966-75.
He worked as a welder for the C.N.R. for a few years, and later in construction for various companies in Rainy River District for a while.
Derek enjoyed fishing and the outdoors, and at home he loved watching sports. He will be missed by his family and friends.
Derek leaves behind his son, Jamie; his father; Robert Pollard and step-mother, Alice Pollard; brother, Guy (Dana); step-sisters, Wendy (Ron), Burdella (Doug), Brenda and Pamela; and step-brothers, Blake and Todd (Tanya).
Also surviving are his aunts, Shelby (Larry) Benoit, Joyce Zub, Hazel Strain, and Lorraine (John) Ponse; uncles, Gary (Mary) Thesenvitz and Dayton (Doris) Thesenvitz; brother-in-law, Dwayne Dewar; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his mother, Jeanne Pollard; sister, Rhonda Dewar; maternal grandparents, Carl and Muriel Thesenvitz; paternal grandparents, Archie and Ida Pollard; uncles, Walter Strain, Roy Zub, and Murray Pollard; and aunt, Marg Pollard.
Cremation will take place at Rainy River Cremation Services in International Falls, Mn.
At Derek’s request, no memorial service will be held.
