Dennis Eldon Hayes, born Dec. 6, 1953 in Fort Frances, Ont., passed away of pneumonia May 17, 1999 at the age of 45.
He went to school in Miscampbell and Fort Frances before working in the bush for Ontario Hydro and Boise. He also worked construction, and belonged to International Labour Union of North America Local 605.
Dennis could fix almost anything, and spent a lot of time helping his many friends with projects, including cars, trucks, and other machinery. He also was a handiman at electrical, plumbing, and carpentry work.
His hobbies were hunting, fishing, and golfing, and playing guitar. He was very proud of the accomplishments of his children.
He married Jane Huntley on March 30, 1974 in Fort Frances, and they lived in Miscampbell.
He leaves to mourn his parents, Wes and Jean Hayes; his wife, Jane; daughter, Candice; son, Chris; brother, David (Maxine); nephews, Warren (Shirley) and Darwin (Lisa); great-niece, Joleigh; sister, Diane Hatfield (Harley) and niece, Rochelle; mother and father-in-law, Jack and Irene Huntley; brothers-in-law, Art, niece, Amber, and nephew, Graham; Gordon (Lorraine), niece, Angela and nephew, Tyler; sister-in-law, Linda Laroque (Dan), nieces, Laurie (Gord) and great-nephew Jamie, and Teresa (John) and great-nephew, DJ; and nephews, Jason, and great-niece, Meagan, and Bradley (Cheryl).
He was predeceased by uncles, Basil, Edwin, Arthur, and Harmon Hayes, Gerald Ryan, and Don, Gary, and Bob Steele; aunts, Lyla Golding, and Mary and Ellen Hayes; and grandparents, Wm. and Frances Hayes, and Norman and Christine Steele.
Cremation will take place.
A memorial service was held Friday, May 21, 1999 at 2 p.m. at Green Funeral Home by Rev. Ken Johnston.
