With heavy hearts and much sadness, the Richard Carpenter family wishes to announce the passing of a beloved brother and uncle.
Dennis “Blackie” Carpenter passed away Saturday, Aug. 23, 2008 at St. Boniface General Hospital in Winnipeg, Man.
Born in Fort Frances on Oct. 4, 1946, Dennis was the fifth of six children of the late Richard and Elizabeth Carpenter.
A quiet and private man, Dennis spent most of his life in Fort Frances. His early working days found him on the pipeline in the North. His working history involved work with mostly carpentry and construction. Recently, Dennis was employed as caretaker at the Kiwanis Sunny Cove Camp.
His love for the Montreal Canadians was legendary.
Dennis was preceded in death by his mother Elizabeth, father Richard, and sister Doris Brown.
He is survived by two brothers, Dick and wife Mary Carpenter, Art and wife Janice Carpenter; and two sisters, Elaine and husband Jack Hogan, Beatrice and husband Erwin Armstrong.
He is also survived by nieces Shelley, Cindy, Jackie, Annisa, Charmaine; and nephews, Damain, Richard, Randy, Rick, Marc, Eric, Gabe, and great nieces and nephews.
Cremation has taken place in Winnipeg and as per his request there will be no funeral. A private family memorial service was held.
