With heavy hearts we sadly announce the passing of Dennis (“Archie”) Livingstone, after a long and courageous battle with illness, on Saturday, Aug. 12, 2017 with his family by his side.
Archie, as he was known by his many friends, was born to Bertha and Arthur Livingstone on March 2, 1940 in McIrvine, Ont.
He met the love of his life, Shirley “Bugs” Wagner, whom he married on Jan. 21, 1961. They were married for 56 years and had three children together. They lived in Fort Frances, Ont., Dryden, Ont., and International Falls, Mn.
Archie worked for Kingsway Motors, then he later opened Sunset Shell with his wife, where they eventually retired from.
They spent their retired winters travelling, including many winters with friends in Florida. In the summer, Archie loved to be outside with his family and spent many days fishing, cutting firewood, gardening, and walking their dogs.
Archie and Bugs were always fishing and had someone tagging along, including their children, grandchildren, friends, and dogs.
He always was helping anyone in need. His gentle, calm demeanour and sense of humour was admired by his many friends and family.
Archie was predeceased by his parents, Arthur and Bertha Livingstone; infant daughter, Shari-Lee; and sisters, Audrey Lloyd and Shirley (Nick) Mutz.
He also joins several extended family members in Heaven.
Archie leaves behind his loving wife, Shirley; daughter, Shelly (Greg) Gustafson; son, Dan; grandchildren, Bryan (Bre) Gustafson and Danielle (Adam) Mitchell; and great-grandson, Declan Mitchell.
He also leaves behind numerous sisters- and brothers-in-law, and beloved nieces and nephews.
Cremation has taken place.
A celebration of life will be held Sunday, Aug. 20, 2017 at 1 p.m. at Shelly and Greg Gustafson’s home. All family and friends are welcome to attend.
The honourary pallbearers will be Gerri Mutz, Richard Mutz, Tim and Laura Mutz, Dave Mutz, Lori and Greg Shoemaker, and Tania and Don Angus.
