DEBBY MARIE WHALEN (ASSELIN)

Debby Marie Whalen (Asselin), born September 2, 1957, in Biggar, Saskatchewan, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 3, 2025. She was 68 years old.

Debby was the beloved wife of Kenny Whalen, a devoted mother to her daughters Tracy and Rebecca, and a cherished grandmother to Adam Onichuck. Her life was centred around her family and her passion for working with children. For over 25 years, Debby dedicated herself to the Fort Frances Day Care, where she touched countless lives with her kindness, patience, and unwavering commitment to nurturing young minds.

Debby was predeceased by her parents Ann and Henry Asselin; and her parents-in-law Evelyn and Minard Whalen. She was also predeceased by her sister Cindy Asselin; and by Kenny’s siblings, Marie Mackinnon and Patricia Whalen.

Her siblings lovingly remember her: Randy (Gail) Asselin, Loretta (Ron) Hoskin, and Terry Asselin; and by Kenny’s surviving siblings Dennise (Brenda) Whalen, Lance (Susan) Whalen, Gerry (Brenda) Whalen, June (Aurel) Nault, Lorne (Vicky) Whalen, Diane (Rick) Deshamps; and brother-in-law Ray Mackinnon.
Debby leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews, all of whom will remember her warmth, generosity, and love.

Debby’s legacy is one of compassion, family devotion, and service to her community. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

A private family gathering will be held at a later date. Instead of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
