DAYTON GAYLORD

The family of Dayton Gaylord sadly announces his passing on July 7, 2005 at his home in Ladysmith, B.C. with his loving family.
Dayton was born Feb. 8, 1926 in Godsland, Sask. to James Arthur and Bessie Gaylord. He moved to Fort Frances, Ont. in 1938.
He worked at Flinders Dairy and as a shipper for Western Grocery. Most prominently, he operated the Food Basket Grocery Store with his partner, Dick Lyons.
In 1975, he worked as parts man at MacDonald Motors until his retirement.
In 1997, he moved with his wife to British Columbia to be closer to their daughter.
He was predeceased by his parents; brothers, Frank and Albert; brothers-in-law, Richard Buffington, Harvey Benedict, and Ted Nixon; and sister-in-law, Elsie Buffington.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Sara; daughter, Susan (Cliff) Williams; granddaughters, Lisa (Nick) Oglesby and Tanya (Paul) Martin; and great-grandchildren, Alexander and Sara.
Also surviving are his sisters, Bernice Benedict and Audrey Nixon; sisters-in-law, Myrtle Gaylord and Kaye Buffington; brother-in-law, Larry (Doreen) Buffington; godson, Michael Cawston, and several nieces and nephews.
He will be remembered as a kind and gentle man.
At his request, cremation has taken place, with interment in Fort Frances to follow at a later date.
A memorial service will be held Friday, July 22, 2005 at 2 p.m. at Knox United Church in Fort Frances.
