It is with great sorrow that the family of David Woodgate, 85, announces his passing on Tuesday, Aug. 10, 2010 at La Verendrye General Hospital in Fort Frances, Ont.
David was born Nov. 16, 1924 in Emo, Ont. to David and Elizabeth Woodgate. He was united in marriage to Lauretta Venne on June 2, 1949 and together they raised seven children.
He worked for Boise Cascade, the Department of Highways, and as a school bus driver, and was the road superintendent for the Township of La Vallee.
David served overseas during World War Two, from 1943 until returning in 1946.
He was a past member of the Royal Canadian Legion, and had a great love for hunting (day or night), especially with his hunting partner, Allan Pattison.
He will be greatly missed by his children, Ernie (Marie) of Lethbridge, Alta., Rodney (Wendy) of Devlin, Ont., Glen (Anna) of Fairview, Alta., Sandy (Leslie) Fletcher of Red Lake, Ont., Bruce (Wanda) of Devlin, Ont., Bill (Lori) of Burriss, Ont., and Brenda (Sean) Webb of Red Lake, Ont.; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are his sisters, Grace Oldford, Edith Pattison, and Violet (Gordon) Grice; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
David was predeceased by his wife, Lauretta; parents, David and Elizabeth Woodgate; granddaughter, Glenda; daughter-in-law, Mary; and brothers-in-law, Bud Oldford and Allan Pattison.
A memorial service will be held Monday, Aug. 16, 2010 at 2 p.m. at the Royal Canadian Legion in Emo, Ont., with Pastor Delbert Barker officiating.
Cremation has taken place.
The honourary pallbearers will be Harold Kellar and Leslie Pattison, and family and friends.
