David Westran, 72, of Fort Frances, Ont., passed away unexpectedly on Friday March 11, 2011 at the St. Boniface Hospital in Winnipeg, Man.
David was born in Geraldton, Ont. on July 17, 1938 to Arthur and Ena Westran.
At a young age, David and his family moved and settled in Fort Frances. After graduation, he worked for a short while for Bosie Cascade mill as well as for several contractors.
David then began working for George Armstrong Construction, which he continued until his retirement.
To keep busy after retirement, David began working for Tom Veert Construction.
He was united in marriage to Pamela Sakrison on May 30, 1997.
David will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Pamela of Fort Frances, Ont.; his children, Darrin Westran of St. Albert, Alta., Erikka Stilling of Virgina, Mn., Andrew Sakrison of Duluth, Mn., and Kimberley Sakrison of Virgina, Mn.; grandchildren, Taylor, Jordyn, and Seth Westran, Kirstyn and Kelsey Stilling, and Chloe Nybo; and one great-grandson on the way.
David also is survived by his sister, Beverly (Keith) Harvey; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, Arthur and Ena Westran.
A memorial service was held Wednesday, March 16, 2011 at 1 p.m. at the Northridge Funeral Home in Emo, Ont., with Rev. Frances Flook officiating.
