David Walter Ironfield, 67, of Rainy River, Ont., formerly of Ottawa, Ont., passed away peacefully on Saturday, Oct. 22, 2011 at the Rainy River Health Centre after a courageous battle with cancer.
David was born in Ottawa on May 20, 1944 to Walter and Helen Ironfield.
David worked for the federal government for many years in Ottawa, then relocated to Rainy River District in the early 1990s after retiring.
He had a great love for nature, photography, and his dogs.
David will be greatly missed by his sister, Joann Lackie of Ottawa, Ont.; nephew, Scott Lackie (Hester Grodde); nieces, Lee Ann (Harry) Lyons and Mary Lynn Lackie (Brian Buma); aunt, Audrey (Ed) Prokosch; and his many friends.
He was predeceased by his parents, Walter and Helen Ironfield; and his brother-in-law, Carson Lackie.
As per David’s wishes, cremation has taken place, with interment to take place in Ottawa at a later date.
