David Spruce, 50, of Ojibways of Onigaming First Nation, passed away Monday, Jan. 9, 2006 at his home.
Dave was born Sept. 25, 1955 to James and Maggie Spruce, and he resided at the Ojibways of Onigaming First Nation all his life.
Dave was a traditional man who enjoyed fishing, hunting, and being outdoors. He had picked many trades along his work path, but enjoyed being an electrician the most.
He is survived by his brother, Andy (Geraldine) Spruce and three children and nine grandchildren; brother, Jimmy (Virginia Big-George) Spruce and their children, Raymond (Amanda Watson) Indian, Rachel (Trevor Iserhoff) Big George, Shelly Big George, and Jenny (Antonio) Fernandez; sister, Betty (Dwayne) Kelly and her children, Chris Spruce and Nicky Felon; as well as numerous extended family.
David was predeceased by his parents and brother, Donnie Spruce.
A wake was held Friday, Jan. 13, 2006 from 3 p.m. at the Ojibways of Onigaming First Nation gymnasium.
A traditional funeral service will be held Saturday, Jan. 14, 2006 at 11 a.m. at the Ojibways of Onigaming First Nation gymnasium. Elder Lawrence Henry will officiate, with interment in the Ojibways of Onigaming First Nation Cemetery.
The pallbearers will be Edward Copenace Jr., Brad Kavanaugh, Edmond Allan, Reil Copenace, Doug Fairbank, and Earl Kelly.
