DAVID LERMAN

Mr. David Lerman passed away Saturday, Nov. 30, 2013 at the age 102 after a brief illness.
He was born Nov. 27, 1911 in Winnipeg, Man. from immigrant parents Rebecca and Gedali Lerman, who predeceased him.
He was predeceased by his three brothers, Morris, Max, and Alex, and one sister, Ann Dorfman; nieces, Ruth Greenberg and Sarah Metwick; and stepsons, Gary and Frank McClymont.
In 1977, he was united in marriage to Florence McClymont, who survives him. He leaves an adopted daughter, Nancy Helgeson and her husband, David, from his first marriage; stepson, David McClymont; grandchildren, Karla and husband, Kevin Johnson, Mike Helgeson, Terry McClymont, and Michael McClymont; and great-grandchildren, Ethan McClymont and Sara McClymont.
Mr. Lerman was a former merchant in Fort Frances and with his brother, Alex, owned Lerman Department Store Ltd. from 1926-1976.
He was an active member of the Fort Frances Retail Merchants Association, past president of the Fort Frances Chamber of Commerce in 1954, and past president of the Fort Frances Kiwanis Club in 1960.
He also obtained a distinguished service award from Kiwanis International for “Club Building,” being one of two members who started the International Falls Kiwanis Club.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2013 at 11 a.m. at Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances, Ont., with Rev. Deacon Bob Grynol and Rev. Barbara Murray officiating.
The pallbearers were David Helgeson, Ross Pearson, Michael McClymont, Terry McClymont, Art Scheirer, and Julian Brunetta.
The honourary pallbearer was Bob Lidkea.
