It is with great sorrow that the Gushulak family announces the sudden passing of our beloved son, brother, and father, David Gushulak, on Tuesday, March 18, 2003 at the age of 47.
Dave was born and raised in Fort Frances, Ont., where he graduated high school. Here, he met his ex-wife Grace, who honoured him with three beautiful children.
Dave was a good man who was dedicated to his family and loved them very much.
Dave worked hard at various jobs, both in Ontario and British Columbia, ending up in Hinton, Alta. working for Weldwood as a respected equipment operator in the woodroom. He made many good friends at Hinton, both from work and the town, all of who now will find a void in their lives.
Dave looked forward to retirement in just over six years, when he planned on spending the winter months in a warm climate (Mexico).
He had a humour everyone could relate to. He was an ardent outdoorsman, and manifested great love and appreciation for beauty and nature. “Truly I tell you today, you will be with me in paradise” was one of his favourite scriptures he quoted as he was mesmerized by the forests, the hills, and the sky.
In nature, his depth and meditation took place, building on his abundant spiritual side.
Dave’s gentle kindness will be sadly missed by all who knew him. The sadness of his passing is diffused with the knowledge of the hope for an eternal future.
Dave will never be forgotten, and is in the hearts and thoughts of all those who knew him.
Dave leaves behind to mourn him his three wonderful children, Dave Forrest Jr. of Kamloops, and Sally Ember and Vance Frederick, both of Comox; his grieving parents, Nickolas and Katherina of Kamloops; sister, Carol (Ken) Churchill of Heffley; brother, Julian (Dianne) of Kamloops; nieces, Wendy (Dave) of Rhode Island, and Melanie (Clark) Norton of Kamloops; and nephews, Christopher of Thunder Bay, Ont., and Scott of Kamloops.
Dave was predeceased by his brother, Freddy in 1949.
Visitation was held Monday, March 24, 2003 at 7 p.m. in the Kamloops Funeral Home in Kamloops.
A funeral service was held Tuesday, March 25, 2003 at 11 a.m. in the Kamlooops Funeral Home Chapel, with Fr. Roman Tsaplan officiating.
Following the service, Dave was laid to rest at Hillside Cemetery.
In memoriam donations may be made to the charity of the your choice.
