DAVID EDGAR BOLEN

David Bolen, 81, of 45 Roy St., Emo, Ont., passed away with family by his side on Thursday, May 21, 1998 at La Verendrye General Hospital in Fort Frances, Ont.
David was born April 24, 1917 in Chapple Township to the late William and Margaret Bolen. He was raised there on the family farm, which he took over from his father.
On Dec. 24, 1943, David was united in marriage to Marjorie Fadden, and together they farmed and raised their children on the family farm. David also worked for many years in the local logging industry.
He was a member of the Baudette Moose Lodge #742, and an associate member of the Superannuated Teachers of Ontario.
In 1981, he retired from farming and moved with Marjorie to Emo. David enjoyed spending time at his cottage on Off Lake and his winters in Yuma, Az., where he played shuffleboard with his many friends. He enjoyed travelling with Marjorie, his animals on the farm, hunting, gardening, and tinkering with different things.
David always loved his family first and foremost, and will be sadly missed by them.
He was predeceased by his infant daughter, Brenda Joyce Bolen (May 19, 1945); brother, Russ Bolen; and two sisters, Mary Georgeson and husband, Jesse, and their son, Jesse Georgeson Jr., and Clara Malick and husband, Glen.
David is survived by his ever-loving wife of more than 54 years, Marjorie Bolen of Emo, Ont.; five children, Betty and husband, Bill Penney, of Stratton, Ont., Garry Bolen of Oshawa, Ont., Colleen and husband, Terry Hyatt, of Mine Centre, Ont., Morley Bolen and wife, Betty, and Dwayne Bolen and wife, Sharon, all of Sioux Lookout, Ont.; 10 grandchildren, Greg, Holly, Shawn, Melodye, Steven, Sheldon, Shane, Justin, Devin, and Tyler, and their families; two great-grandchildren, Jessica and Jeremy; brother, Wilbert Bolen of Emo, Ont.; sister, Allene and husband, Edwards Atkinson, of Rugby Lake, Ont.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial services were held Monday, May 25, 1998 at 2 p.m. at the Emo Knox United Church in Emo. Rev. Frances Flook officiated, with interment in Barwick Cemetery in Barwick, Ont.
Honourary pallbearers were Garry Bolen, Morley Bolen, Dwayne Bolen, Bill Penney, Terry Hyatt, Willy Almers, Don Johnson, Edwards Atkinson, Gerald Fadden, Greg D. Penney, Sheldon Bolen, and Bill Low.
