DAVID BARNARD

David Orland Barnard, 63, of Atikokan, Ont., passed away at his residence on Wednesday, May 23, 2012 after a courageous battle with cancer.
David was born March 31, 1949 in Kenora, Ont. to George and Anna Barnard.
At an early age, he worked for the Sapawe sawmill in Atikokan. Then in the early 1980s, David relocated to Calgary, Alta. to be with his lifelong friend and companion, Kathey Hallaby.
While there he took up the trades of drywalling and carpentry.
In 1993, David and Kathey moved back to Atikokan, where they resided until his passing.
David had a great love for fishing, carpentry, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
David will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Kathey of Atikokan, Ont.; his children, Robert (Julie) Barnard of Fort Frances, Ont. and Misty (Jeff) Haines of Cornwall, Ont.; and grandchildren, Aleyx, Nina, Hailee, Jessie, and Owen.
He also is survived by his siblings, Irene Barnard, Bernice (Bill) Reid, Doreen (Barney) Mercer, Gloria (Jack) Risi, Jack (Terri) Barnard, Lawrence (Debbie) Barnard, and Melvin (Cathy) Barnard; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
David was predeceased by his parents, George and Anna Barnard; brother, Bruce Barnard; and in-laws, Ezra and Mary Kearney.
As per David’s wishes, there will be no funeral service. Interment will be held at a later date.
