It is with profound heartache that the family of Darryl Joseph announces his passing on Saturday August 21, 2021.

Darryl Jo was born on July 16, 2003, to Tara Smith and Darryl Sakchekapo in Fort Frances, Ont. He grew up in Naicatchewenin First Nation, as well as spending time in North Caribou Lake First Nation. Darryl Jo had a big heart and loved to be around children; he was very affectionate and caring towards them. He enjoyed sports and played hockey. He played video games and loved to spend time with the boys.

He will be greatly missed by his mother Tara (Alton); father Darryl (Tracy); brothers Darnell (Lavena), Jayden (Sommer) and Gavin; nephew Asher; niece Rosalia; grandparents Tommy and Lorraine Smith, Harry Sakchekapo and Eva Sakchekapo; aunts and uncles Barbara (Bill), Rhonda (George), Raechel (Adrian), Waylon (Crystal), Chris, Jon and Crystal (Tony), Judy (Leo); and girlfriend Willow Matawapit. He will also be greatly missed by many other cousins, too numerous to mention.

Darryl Jo was predeceased by his grandparents Tommy and Eva Adams and Norman and Georgina Patayash; aunties Mirian Sakchekapo and Gloria Sakchekapo; great-uncle Joshua Patayash; cousins Ashley Smith and Adrian Snowball Jr.

A visitation was held on Thursday, August 26, 2021 from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. at Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances, Ontario.

Funeral services were held on Friday, August 27, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at the Naicatchewenin First Nation Community Hall at Naicatchewenin First Nation with Pastor Larry Laquette officiating.

The pallbearers were Adrian Snowball, Bill Morrison, Waylon Smith, Chris Smith, Jon Smith, Leo Sakchekapo, Tony Keeash and Vern Smith.

The honourary pallbearers were Santino (Nino) Smith, Sam Smith, Grayson Councillor, Colton Lengyel, Jeff (Pete) Smith, Isaiah (Izzy) Smith Damon, Smith (Roon) and Skylar (TB) Smith.
