DARREN JAMES MCCORMICK

Kanogaabo

It is with deepest sadness we regretfully announce the sudden passing of Darren James McCormick (spirit name, Kanogaabo), age 54, of Mine Centre, Ont. He was born on March 5, 1971, in Fort Frances, Ont., passed away in Mine Centre on October 20th 2025

Darren enjoyed spending time at Shoal Lake at the family cabin as well as all the other surrounding lakes, and even more when his partner, friends and family joined him. He always had a big smile when that happened. He always wanted everyone to have fun.

Darren’s favourite pastimes were hunting, fishing, sitting by a fire, listening to music, playing cards, pool, and playing practical jokes on all his friends, even strangers unknowingly got in on the fun as well at times if he passed by their shopping carts.

Darren was predeceased by his father Alan in 2009; and his mother Eva in 1991.

He is survived by his loving partner Pam Bliss; step-children Lindsay, Taylor, Sara and Billy; step-mom Betty Maguire.

Surviving siblings Cindy (Terry Jourdain), Constance (Randy Hogan), Michael, and Candace (Daniel DeGagne); and our bonus brother and lifelong best friend, Jason “Oot” Mckelvie.

He also leaves behind his most cherished nieces and nephews, Brody, Brayden, Jesse, Jonah, Shaye, Tanner, Hope, Presley, and Isabel. He was so very proud of them and loved them all so dearly.

Darren had many friends, most that were more like his brothers that held a special place in his heart and I know he will be sadly missed by them all.

Cremation has taken place, and private family lakeside service will take place at a later date.

“Don’t cry for me, I am free now.”
