Alfred and Marie Veran and family sorrowfully announce the unexpected passing of their youngest and much-loved son, Danny Lee Veran, on Dec. 15, 2011 in Thunder Bay, Ont.
Dan was born Feb. 20, 1971 in Atikokan, Ont. He spent his early life in Atikokan and Bears Pass.
He had a passion for hockey, and also liked to hunt fish and go snowmachining.
After graduation from high school, he attended Confederation College, where he took a welding course. He worked in the construction industry as a welder, mechanic, and crusher operator.
Dan is survived by his mom and dad; niece, Taylor; and sister-in-law, Cindy.
He also is survived by his maternal aunts and uncles, Lorraine Calder and Joe Duhamel and family, LaVerne and Bill Caul and family, Roberta and Randy Kehl and family, and Dorothy and Don Huitikka and family; and paternal aunts and uncles, Delores Veran and family, Sandra Sedor and family, Alverne Dickson and family, Sharon Veran and family, Joe Veran, Jack and Evelyn Veran and family, and Beverly Veran and family.
Dan was predeceased by his older brothers, Robert and Patrick; uncle, Ray Veran; cousins, Steve Huitikka, Lonny Goodman, Mark Goodman, Ricky Goodman, and Rachel Hanson; and his maternal grandparents, Bob and Maude Calder and paternal grandparents, Alfred and Mary Veran.
A gathering to remember Dan will be held Saturday, Jan. 7, 2011 from 1-4 p.m. at the Royal Canadian Legion (Atikokan branch), located at 115 O’Brien St.
