DANIEL NUSSBAUMER

Daniel Nussbaumer, 93, went to be with His Lord and Saviour peacefully on Tuesday, April 30, 2013 at his residence with his family by his bedside.
Daniel was born to Daniel and Babette Nussbaumer on June 14, 1919 in Basel, Switzerland.
He accepted Jesus as his Saviour at a very young age and Jesus was the centre of his life to the very end. He told many stories of God’s grace to his children and grandchildren as he lived through WWII.
Dad with Mom farmed in France until 1975, when they immigrated to Canada with their nine children at the age of 56. They settled in Emo, Ont., where they farmed together.
He loved farming and landscaping was his hobby. He planted many trees each year. He was a very hard worker and in his retirement spent countless hours on his tractor beautifying the yard or working in the garden.
He was a firm believer in his Lord and Saviour, and was a true blessing to everyone around him. He enjoyed spending time reading the Bible and taught each child to sing in harmony. Singing together as a family was a daily ritual after supper.
He always was ready to lend a hand and had an open ear to soothe hurting hearts by showing empathy.
He also loved children and enjoyed spending quality time with them. He treasured each and every grandchild who, in turn, cherished his gentleness and kindness.
Daniel was predeceased by his parents and dear daughter, Tabea Nussbaumer.
Many loving memories will be cherished by his wife, Ruth; his children, Philippe (Edith), Markus (Margrit), André (Monika), Joël (Joëlle), Rachel, Lydie, Elisabeth (Jean-Paul) Hirschler, and Anne-Ruth (Glen) Carradice; and his 31 grandchildren, Simeon, Daniel, Debora, Jeremy (Gabrielle), Ruth, David, Elisabeth, Tabea, Lydiane, Lydie, Hanna, Lucas, Samuel, Jael, Lois, Theophil, Abigail, Japhet, Philemon, Aurelie, Jonathan, Adeline, Pierre, Joshua, Moriah, Esther, Lemuel, Rachel, Naomi, Evodie, and Tirzah.
He also is survived by his brother, Hans Nussbaumer and sister, Lydie (Paul) Husser; sisters-in-law, Martha Ryser, Bethli Martin, Violet Nussbaumer, and Gerada Gerber; as well as many cousins, nephews and nieces.
Funeral services were held Saturday, May 4, 2013 at 11 a.m. at the Northridge Funeral Home in Emo, with Pastor Lance Eisele officiating.
Interment will take place at the Emo Cemetery in Emo at a later date.
The honorary pallbearers were all his grandsons.
