It’s with great sadness that the family announces the peaceful passing of Daniel Alexander McFayden, 63, of Fort Frances, Ont., on Wednesday, June 21, 2017 with his children and family by his side.
Danny was born on May 19, 1954 in Fort Frances to Alexander and Margaret McFayden, joining his two older siblings, Jack and Diane.
After graduating from Fort Frances High School, he worked for more than 36 years in the Fort Frances pulp and paper mill, retiring in 2011.
Always the sportsman, Danny grew up excelling at hockey and baseball. Later, he began curling, spending many nights at the Fort Frances Curling Club. He also regularly enjoyed a round of golf at Kitchen Creek Golf Course.
When not on the fairway, you usually could find Dan in his boat fishing or cruising up to Sand Point on Rainy Lake with a cooler full of Blue.
Everyone who knew Danny knows he liked to have a good time and engage with all of those around him. His laugh was infectious and he always was the life of the party.
Dan will be lovingly remembered by his son, Jeff McFayden (Heather) of Ottawa, Ont.; daughter, Tessa Egan (Shaun) of Fort Frances, Ont.; and three grandchildren, Frances McFayden, and Cruz and Hayden Egan.
He also will be sorely missed by his family, Jack and Teresa McFayden (Scott and Michelle), and Diane and Ken Tetreault (Krista and Steve), and so many close friends he made here in Fort Frances and everywhere he went.
To all of his friends and extended family, please join us to celebrate Danny’s life at the Fort Frances Curling Club on Sunday, June 25, 2017 from 2-4 p.m.
A private family interment will be held at a later date.
